Do Moldovans Need a Visa or ETIAS for Europe?
Moldovan travelers visiting the Schengen Area will require ETIAS authorization from Q4 2026.
ETIAS Required
Moldovans currently visit Europe visa-free. From late 2026, ETIAS authorization will be required. It costs €20, is valid for 3 years, and most applications are approved in minutes.

The 90/180-Day Rule for Moldovans
Even with ETIAS, Moldovans must follow the 90/180-day rule: you can stay a maximum of 90 days within any rolling 180-day period throughout all 30 Schengen countries combined. Days in France, Germany, and Spain all count toward the same limit.
The window "rolls" — it is always calculated by looking back 180 days from today. This is more restrictive than a simple calendar period. Use our 90/180-day calculator to track your remaining days.
The Moldova passport ranks #88 globally, offering visa-free access to 108 countries. This strong passport means Moldovans only need ETIAS — not a full visa — for Schengen travel.
