Background & Security Questions
The ETIAS application includes security screening questions. Your answers are checked against EU databases including the Schengen Information System (SIS), Interpol, and Europol.
Answer all questions honestly and accurately. Providing false information can result in denial and potential entry bans.

Criminal history — Convictions for serious crimes in the past 20 years
Immigration history — Previous visa refusals, deportations, or overstays

What Happens with Your Data
ETIAS data is processed in compliance with EU data protection laws (GDPR). Your information is:
- Stored securely by eu-LISA (EU IT systems agency)
- Used only for border security and immigration purposes
- Retained for the validity period of your ETIAS plus 3 years
- Accessible to you upon request
You have the right to request access to, correction, or deletion of your data under GDPR.
