How This Checklist Works
The checklist is organized into four levels that follow the natural order of a Schengen visa application:
- Research: Confirm you need a visa, choose your destination, and verify your passport
- Documents: Gather photos, insurance, bank statements, cover letter, and supporting documents
- Application: Fill out the form, book your appointment, and attend in person
- Follow-up: Track your application and collect your passport

Do I have to complete steps in order?
The checklist follows the recommended order for a Schengen visa application, but you can complete steps within each level in any order. Later levels unlock as you progress.
My embassy requires additional documents. Can I add them?
This checklist covers the standard requirements for all Schengen countries. Some embassies may have additional requirements — check your specific embassy's website for their complete checklist.
Can I uncheck a completed step?
Yes. If you need to redo a step, you can click it again to uncheck it. This will also update your overall progress.
How long does the entire process take?
From start to finish, expect 6-10 weeks. Document gathering takes 1-2 weeks, appointment availability adds 2-4 weeks, and processing takes 15-45 days. Starting 3 months early gives you comfortable buffer time.
