About Luxembourg

The capital balances itself on a sandstone plateau cut by deep ravines, with Bock fortress casemates carved into the cliffside and a UNESCO old town that takes a couple of hours on foot. EU institutions and private banks mean the city eats and drinks well above its population weight — Michelin stars cluster here.

Outside the city, the Moselle Valley grows Crémant and Riesling on steep terraces, the Mullerthal trails wind through sandstone gorges nicknamed “Little Switzerland,” and Vianden's clifftop castle photographs better than most in the Rhine Valley. Trains and buses are free. Take advantage.
