About Aarhus
Aarhus is Denmark's second city and the country's coolest cultural hub, a coastal university town on the Jutland peninsula where a quarter of the residents are students and the bar-to-citizen ratio is one of the most generous in the country. The headline attraction is ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum and its rooftop walkway 'Your Rainbow Panorama' by Olafur Eliasson — a 150-metre circular glass corridor coloured the full spectrum, giving 360-degree filtered views over the city. Den Gamle By, the open-air old-town museum, is one of the world's first of its kind: 75 historic buildings relocated from across Denmark and meticulously reassembled around three reconstructed eras (1864, 1927, and 1974 — the last includes a working jazz bar). The city's medieval cathedral (Aarhus Domkirke) is the longest in Denmark, the harbour-front Dokk1 library is a piece of post-2015 civic design Copenhageners arrive on the train to admire, and the latin quarter around Vestergade and Møllestien has the most photogenic small lanes.
